Dr. Monnica T. Williams is a registered clinical psychologist providing compassionate, evidence-based therapy to adults in Ontario. With over two decades of experience, she specializes in treating anxiety disorders, trauma, and identity-related stress. She is available for consultations, treatment planning, and diagnostic evaluations.

Dr. Williams approach is rooted in cultural humility and clinical excellence, offering a safe, nonjudgmental space for healing and personal growth. She integrates cognitive-behavioural, interpersonal, and empowerment techniques within a culturally-responsive framework. Her work is grounded in research and shaped by a deep understanding of intersectional identity, trauma, and resilience. Areas of Specialization
Dr. Williams extensive experience working with adults facing a wide range of psychological challenges, with particular expertise in anxiety-related disorders and trauma. She specializes in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is considered the gold standard for OCD care. She also has extensive experience treating Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) through evidence-based approaches such as Prolonged Exposure (PE) and trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy.
A core part of Dr. Williams’ practice involves supporting individuals impacted by racial trauma and minority stress. She offers a culturally informed therapeutic space for clients dealing with the emotional toll of racism, microaggressions, and systemic injustice. Her work is grounded in both clinical skill and lived awareness of how identity, culture, and oppression intersect with mental health.
In addition, Dr. Williams provides therapy for general concerns such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions, helping clients regulate emotions and build resilience. She is also a recognized leader in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy, offering integration support and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy through her clinic teams.
Beyond therapy, Dr. Williams conducts psychological assessments related to trauma, discrimination, and mental health injuries in civil and criminal legal contexts. Her reports are used to inform courts and tribunals, and are grounded in careful clinical evaluation and cultural insight.
Education
Dr. Williams earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Virginia and completed her clinical residency at Montreal General Hospital. She is Board Certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology (ABPP) and is a certified trainer in Functional Analytic Psychotherapy. Her extensive training includes specialized work in cognitive-behavioral therapy, with a focus on OCD and trauma-related disorders. She maintains active clinical licenses in Ontario and Connecticut, as well as an Interjuristioticnal Practice Certificate.
Training and Supervision
In addition to her clinical work with clients, Dr. Williams is deeply involved in the training and supervision of emerging and established therapists. She provides ongoing supervision to graduate students in clinical psychology as well as to licensed clinicians working at the Behavioral Wellness Clinics she directs. Dr. Williams is also the author of several published books designed to support clinician learning, including Sexual Obsessions in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: A Step-by-Step, Definitive Guide to Understanding, Diagnosis, and Treatment and A Clinician’s Guide to Healing the Wounds of Racial Trauma. These texts are widely used by therapists seeking to expand their expertise in treating complex OCD presentations and addressing the psychological wounds of racism. Through both her teaching and writing, Dr. Williams continues to shape the next generation of culturally informed, evidence-based practitioners.
